Hide Rating - My New Rule

When a commenter makes horrible remarks about Senator Obama, is that person a fervent supporter of Senator Clinton or a rightwing troll trying to make the Democratic frontrunner look bad? Or a freeper troll just stirring up trouble? How is a true Democrat supposed to tell the difference?

I want to HR only the trolls but don't want to HR Democrats who simply have a difference of opinion with me. Hence my new rule below the fold.

New Rule re Hide Rate:

If a commenter says something offensive about Senator Obama and then says something like 'Hahaha, Republicans will win in November' I consider that commenter a troll. Anybody who is happy to see the Republicans win is not a Democrat.

I'd like to see commenters who claim to be Hillary supporters, give honest comparisons between Hillary and Obama. I would especially like these commenters to say positive things about Hillary more often than negative comments about Obama. If they are so high on Hillary as their nominee of choice, they should be anxious to tell everyone about her wonderful qualities. While they may have something negative to say about Obama, it shouldn't be all they have to say or I will once again assume they are just bashing the Democratic frontrunner.

What about Obama supporters vs. trolls? The trolls are not targeting Hillary at the moment since she is not the frontrunner so it's not an issue although it has been in the past.

Take it for what it's worth, it's only my opinion.

So, effectively you're stating that no one can discuss Obama without being arbitrarily HR'd by you then? A the-site-that-must-not-be-named type of rule so to speak.

I don't appreciate such a rule at all and, while I in principle don't like HR-ing anything, I will let you know that it is not below me to retaliate against such a policy.

It does seem a little skewed - (none / 0)

No, anyone can discuss Obama. Anyone can point out why they think Obama is the weaker candidate. But if they don't have anything else to say, nothing positive about Democrats at all, why shouldn't I assume they are not Democrats?

Obama is the candidate with relatively low support coming from Democrats and more support coming from Republicans. If Obama is nominated he will probably lead us to electoral disaster come November.

This is a very Democratic (upper case "d") problem and a problem that needs to be thoroughly discussed by those who are loyal to the party. Whether you like it or not.

Do you know any Republicans who are (2.00 / 1)

going to vote Democratic in November? Two of the three Republicans I know have told me they will vote for Obama in November. They didn't vote for him in the primary because this is a closed caucus state but they will in the GE.

There are a lot of moderate Republicans out there who are very unhappy with the direction their party has taken. Can't really blame them, they are the ones who have been royally screwed by this administration.

My brother (one of the two republicans I mentioned) told me this morning he can't understand why the Democrats don't wrap this up and start fighting McCain. He thinks the Dem on Dem mudslinging is hurting us and he doesn't understand why Hillary doesn't drop out.

FYI: Other than the Iraq war, my brother's main reason for voting Dem in November is healthcare. Same for my neighbor. They both realize something must be done about the 47 million uninsured. And both are anxious to vote for Obama. There's bad blood between Clinton and Republicans that just won't go away.

I'm no Obama fan, but the GOP is a nightmare and will destroy this country if the Democrats don't oust them from the WH. Anyone threatening to vote McCain or expressing a desire to watch the Republicans tear Obama apart during the GE is a Freeper troll.

Even John McCain lusts after teh engels.

And I would also suggest that anyone who accuses one of the two democratic candidates of being racists or sexists should be trolled too. Whatever their supporters or surrogates too, there's no evidence of that in either candidates

I think Defining Democrat as only those who vote how you want them to in the general election after Dean and Obama have defrauded 2 complete states is simplistic.

The truth is there are a lot of democrats who will be taking punitive action if the candidate who is up about 1 million votes among democrats loses to the candidate with GOP and independent support in the convention.

Now the Obama crowd wants to make the democratic party smaller and try and hush the voice of the true democratic party like they do at dailykos but the fact remains Obama is the first candidate in a LONG time to threaten his voters won't play ball in the general.

Obama's supporters are the first supporters in a long time to threaten violence if they don't get their way in the convention.

There are a lot of FIRSTS on the Obama side that may prompt real democrats like me to take punitive action in the general.

First, Obama had nothing to do with the DNC rules. Second, even with those two states he will be in the lead.

Third, anyone who says they won't vote Democratic is not a Democrat in my mind.

It goes both ways. When Clinton was in the lead, I had the same problem with people who bashed her who didn't seem to have a positive Democratic agenda. But right now, it seems to be more against Obama.

So yeah, same thing for Clinton. I wrote this after something really nasty was said about Obama on one of the threads here and when I looked up the history of the poster, I discovered they had only 2 posts, both bashing Obama. Made me wonder.
